At Nant-y-Parc Primary School, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our whole school community. We understand that families can benefit from different types of support at different times, and we work hard to provide a range of opportunities, resources, and practical assistance to help ensure every child can thrive both in school and beyond.

 

Our aim is to reduce barriers to participation, promote equality of opportunity and ensure that all pupils can access the experiences, resources and support they need to be successful.

 

Supporting Our Families

We offer a variety of initiatives throughout the year to support children and families, including:

 

Nant-y-Pantry

Our Nant-y-Pantry provides access to essential food items and household products for families who may benefit from additional support.

 

Jesus Cares Packages

Through our partnership with local community organisations, families may access practical support packages containing essential items and seasonal provisions.

 

School Uniform Cupboard

Our Uniform Cupboard provides access to good-quality pre-loved uniform items, helping families obtain school clothing when needed.

 

Clothing Exchange Events

Throughout the year, we organise community clothing exchange events that give families opportunities to access items free of charge. These events often include:

• Spooky costumes

• Christmas jumpers

• Occasion and celebration clothing

• Prom and leavers' clothing

• Seasonal clothing items

 

Period Dignity Products

In line with our commitment to wellbeing and dignity, period products are available discreetly and free of charge for anyone who may need them.

 

Lending Library

Our Lending Library encourages a love of reading by providing access to a wide range of books for children and families to borrow and enjoy at home.

 

Birthday Box

We believe every child deserves to feel special on their birthday. Our Birthday Box initiative helps ensure that children can celebrate their special day with dignity and joy.

 

Food and Healthy Living

We actively seek grants and funding opportunities to support our pupils' health and wellbeing. Through external funding and school initiatives, we work to ensure that children have access to fresh fruit each day, either free of charge or at a very low cost. We also provide a popular Breakfast Club which offers children a positive start to the school day in a welcoming environment.

 

Enrichment Opportunities

We believe that every child should have access to enriching experiences that build confidence, develop skills and support wellbeing.

To help achieve this, we offer a wide range of free after-school clubs and activities throughout the year, enabling pupils to explore new interests, develop talents and enjoy being part of the wider school community.

 

Support for Parents and Carers

We recognise that supporting children also means supporting families.

Parents and carers can benefit from:

• Access to Citizens Advice drop-in sessions

• Guidance and signposting to local services

• Community learning opportunities

• Training and skill-development courses

• Opportunities to develop confidence and employability skills in preparation for further education, training or employment

These opportunities help strengthen family wellbeing and support parents and carers in achieving their own personal goals.
